Deodorant and antiperspirants fight odour. Deodorant stops the growth of bacteria and antiperspirants block the pores and stop perspiration. There is an ongoing debate about the use of aluminum in antiperspirants as it may be involved in the onset of Alzheimer’s disease. Aluminum may cause skin irritation in some people. Triclosan, used in many deodorants, can be absorbed through the skin and has caused liver damage in lab animals. The jury is out on whether blocking pores prevents the body from eliminating toxins. 4

Regardless there are many toxic chemicals in most products and the smell of most of them is absolutely overwhelming to many people.

Why not try a chemical free, unscented product or a natural deodorant crystal? It may take 3-5 weeks to detox your system so you may smell worse before you smell better. Just hang in there.
