It takes only one whiff of strong perfume or cologne and the tingling sensation starts. This can lead to a debilitating migraine headache for me. I may even find the scent pleasant, but some sort of weird chemical reaction happens in my brain when I’m exposed to certain fragrances. It’s a neurological condition and it’s no fun. I hope other people will consider David’s story as well as mine and embrace a fragrance free lifestyle.

Migraines are a way of life for me. Perfume and cologne are major triggers and seem to be everywhere. Even lingering perfume in a room from someone who has walked thru previously is enough to cause a reaction. I hope that people reading with will refrain from wearing there perfume or cologne in public. By all means where your gift or new find at home but refrain in public area.

I have read online that a few chemicals used in some synthetic fragrances are considered neurotoxins. If you’re having migraines, you’re having a neurotoxic reaction. Bath & Body Works products have been the worst for me in this regard (migraines, dizziness, vomiting). You can search products and ingredients at http://www.cosmeticsdatabase.org.

We used to go on cruises, and each year there was ample planning with the Cruise ships on not using fragrant products in our cabin, not washing our linen with fragrant products…and each year they complied with our requests. The problem was the cabin attendants sometimes had colognes on their bodies, which we had to address…and a few instances where people at our dining tables had strong perfumes causing us to have to move. However, overall our 7 cruises were great.
